Profile

Prior to his move to Texas, Brian worked at Chicago Scenic Studios as a job lead, building and painting scenery for projects such as: ABC-7 Chicago State Street Studio Set; CBS Sports Set- New York, NY, “Late Night With Conan O’Brien in Chicago”, “ The Oprah Winfrey Show”, The Chicago Field Museum; The Adler Planetarium; The Museum of Science and Industry; Chicago Shakespeare; Disney, and “The Radio City Christmas Spectacular”.

He was raised in Chicago and began his university career studying Industrial Design on scholarship at the University of Illinois. His love of drawing and painting took him to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where he completed his BFA in Illustration/Design. He then returned to Chicago to study painting at The Art Institute of Chicago and began work as a professional mural painter and union carpenter. Ultimately, he created a business with his family, which created custom children’s furniture, and fully realized children’s rooms featuring bunk beds, dressers, bookshelves and floor to ceiling murals.

Brian returned to the University of Kansas to work on his MFA in Scenography and teach scenic production. He earned his MFA from KU with Honors in addition to winning First Place awards for 3 consecutive years from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his scenic designs. While at Texas Christian University he has garnered 3 DFW Critics Forum Awards for Outstanding Creative Contributions for his work on Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, & Julius Caesar.  Brian is a member of The United States Institute for Theatre Technology and United Scenic Artists- category Scene Design.
